We offer monthly support group meetings for stepfamilies using a problem-solving approach. In addition, we teach positive communication skills to help you to improve stepfamily relationships. We also offer free seminars on a variety of topics chosen by the group.

A local chapter of the national, nonprofit organization called the Stepfamily Association of America.

1. Monthly meetings are free and open to anyone who is in a stepfamily or about to become part of one.
   
   
2. There are no commitments; you attend when you can. However, studies have shown that stepfamilies who have attended meetings for at least one year report a significant improvement in their relationships with family members. In addition, couples who attended stepfamily meetings prior to becoming a stepfamily have been more successful in developing their stepfamily.
   
   
3. Participation in the group is not necessary. Some individuals and couples come to learn about stepfamilies. It is also a group in which you may share a problem or a success story about your own family. The stepfamilies will help you to solve your particular problem or to achieve your goals in a positive, supportive environment.
   
   
4. You do not have to attend as a couple. Many individuals come by themselves because their spouse is working or not interested. But it is more beneficial when both partners attend the meetings together.
   
   
5. You can expect to make friendships in the group. After attending the group meetings for several months, many of the couples felt like the group was part of their family. This is because everyone in the group has a common bond of being in a stepfamily.
   
   
6. Confidentiality is essential to the group process. What is said in the group stays in the group to ensure that all members are comfortable talking openly to each other.
   
   
7. We offer educational seminars several times a year on a variety of topics. You do not have to be a member of the group to attend.
